Wow, thank you so much for sharing this. I’ve been suffering from eye strain quite a bit lately, to the point that I was concerned my eye-sight was degrading. I installed this this morning and I quite like it, hope it helps me form healthy eye habits. :)

If you’re waiting for a moment where you’re like “this is it,” I’m telling you, it never comes. Nobody comes on TV and says “things are officially bad.” There’s no launch party for decay. It’s just a pileup of outrages and atrocities in between friendships and weddings and perhaps an unusual amount of alcohol.

This part resonates with me most.

I’m afraid of the massive amounts of malicious propaganda this technology could produce. Possibly already is producing.

“From where I was sitting, after years of frustration, I couldn’t see a better path to push for that change than to speak out publicly.”

Sounds like they had noticed this as an issue for a while and finally decided enough was enough.

Chandwaney, who is gender nonbinary, laid out their reasons for leaving the company in a public Facebook post on Tuesday. They also detailed their decision to quit in an interview with The Washington Post and published a copy of their resignation letter on Facebook’s internal employee message board.

In a statement to Business Insider, Chandwaney said they quit because they felt their criticism of Facebook wasn’t being heard.

“As far as I can tell, the company is approaching hate content and hate organizing as a PR issue rather than a substantive issue to take real action on,” Chandwaney said. “From where I was sitting, after years of frustration, I couldn’t see a better path to push for that change than to speak out publicly.”

Yeah, that’s my one gripe with Mumble, not the greatest audio experience, especially coming from Discord. But I’ve accepted that as the price of freedom. lol

Using F-droid, one can easily send the APK to a nearby user. So if only one person has the app installed through F-droid, they could organize to distribute it among a small group, and from there it can continue to spread, assuming the recipients have F-droid already. Otherwise someone could simply transfer a copy of the F-Droid APK to each recipient first.

Me! Employed as a Node.js developer currently (for 3+ years) but I’d much rather be working in Rust which I work with on my own time. I’m especially interested in Rust + Wasm at the moment.

Ubuntu -> Debian -> Manjaro -> Arch -> NixOS

I think I’m sticking with NixOS for the foreseeable future as one of the things I dislike about migrating to a new machine is, well, the entire migration process. With NixOS I just write a config, share it with my new machine, and my migration efforts are greatly reduced.

I also enjoy the sense of security I get in knowing that if I ever severely break anything I can just roll back to a previously configured state, something that would have been nice when using Arch… 😅

I’m still learning how to utilize NixOS to it’s fullest, but so far it’s been worth it.

YES, I’ve watched this several times for the comedy and good feels.

Renting currently, would prefer some form of co-ownership.

Yeah it’s called lynx. 🤣

Edit: Oh whoops, I forgot lynx doesn’t support JS.

Are you sure? I just did a quick search online and found plenty of guides on how to use nmcli to create a WPA2 Enterprise connection.

in my experience “free speech” is code for far-right abuse geared to the most vulnerable people in society

I don’t think what you’re describing is gross

So you think that abusing vulnerable people in society is okay?

Thanks for reminding me to update gravity. 👍

As others have pointed out, it’s almost impossible to purchase a ‘dumb-TV’ these days, or at least one with modern resolutions/performance.

Was browsing the NixOS discourse forum and saw that there were job offerings with little to no attention, so I’m boosting here…

Looking for an alternative to Toggl

I’ve used Toggl in past and I’m finding myself in need of a time-tracking software again for managing time with multiple clients effectively and easily. Is there a viable FLOSS alternative or will I need to go back to using spread-sheets? …
